Formation of Information Communication Technologies (ICT) Competence in the Process of Training Specialists in Document Science and Information Activity

Abstract

In the article theoretical analysis of formation of ICT-competence in the process of training specialists in document science and information activity has been done. The interpretation of the concept of “ICT-competence of a specialist” has been revealed, the levels of formation of ICT-competence has been studied (the basic level is the readiness of a document scientist to use ICT of general purpose for solving professional tasks; the professional level is the willingness and ability of a document scientist to introduce new technologies and resources necessary for successful and efficient work into their professional activity). The main problems in the training of specialists in document science and informational activity (low motivation to study the disciplines of the computer science cycle, insufficient level of educational, cognitive and research activity, lack of professionally directed textbooks on informatics disciplines for students of document sciences) have been outlined. The educational disciplines have been analysed (“Computer Engineering and Programming”, “Database Management Systems”, “Information Systems and Networks”, “Organizational Technique”, “Computer Graphics”, “Internet Technologies”, “Practice of Computer Record Keeping”, “Educational Practice”, “Technological Practice”). The methodology of teaching these disciplines in relation to the formation of ICT competence of the future specialists in document science (practical classes, different types of practice, course and diploma projects, extracurricular activities with students, use of active teaching methods – case method, project method) has been presented.
