FORMATION OF THE EDUCATIONAL IDEAL BY MEANS OF FAMILY ETHNOPEDAGOGY: THEORETICAL ASPECTS

Abstract

This article examines such concept as «educational ideal», analyses theoretical works of Ushynskyi K., Vashchenko G., Vyshnevskyi O. The focus of the study is on the fact that every period of our history, in its own way, influenced formation of educational ideals in society. We can notice changes in formation of an educational ideal due to socio-political transformations even in those European countries which had well-established traditions of education system. Scientists emphasize the importance of ethnopedagogy and folklore in formation of the national educational ideal. Thus, Ushynskyi K. defines understanding of a human being as a key point that can help to grasp the specifics of formation of the educational ideal in etnopedagogy. He considers the educational ideal as a dynamic, changeable and transformable educational category. In his works Ushynskyi K. describes the caste specifics of the society of that time, which in turn affected the educational ideal. He focuses on inexpediency and impossibility of unification of the educational ideal, because it is national spirit – a sacred and fundamental phenomenon that dies last. Vashchenko G. continued to work on identifying priorities of ethnopedagogy. He defined clearly the importance of ethnicity in the educational process, prioritizing the Ukrainian national educational ideal. Thus, he finally freed it from influence of Russian imperial ideology. He believed that the main principle of the educational ideal of youth is to serve the Lord / the Absolute and Ukraine / the motherland. Therefore, values of Christianity direct our attention to the following priorities in the education process: brotherly love, supremacy of law, fairness, justice, goodness. Formation of values is possible only on the basis of personal knowledge of the world around and attempts of understanding the inner state of mind. The theory of the modern Ukrainian educational ideal integrates achievements of ethnopedagogy, Christian education and generally civilized humanistic generations. Vyshnevskyi O. displays general principles of modern Ukrainian education. He examines the ethno-psychological aspects of Ukrainian education, referring to the origins of Ukrainian features of character and the dominant of Ukrainian soul. According to him, Ukrainian educational tradition includes both the source and the prospects of the educational ideal, the main role of which belongs to Christianity, humanism, patriotism and democracy. Thus, a national educational ideal is formed on the achievements of nation, crystallized during thousands of years, developed and modified according to the needs of society.
