Journal Title: Наукові праці. Серія "Історія" - Year 2017, Vol 304, Issue 292
Abstract
The article highlights the formation of a source base on the history of the Polish ethnos of Mykolayiv region in the context of the history of the State Archives of the Mykolayiv region and the composition of the funds containing documents about the Poles. Based on the statistical sources stored in the archives, statistical information about the Polish population of the Mykolayiv region is provided. The possibilities of a source base in the study of the history of the Polish ethnos up to 1917, the Korenizacyi (the history of the Polish section), the Stalin repressions (the fate of the priest of the Mykolayiv Roman Catholic Church of St. Joseph Christian Zysko and the Catholic community of Krivoye Ozero) have been demonstrated on the basis of some archival cases. Information on the new acquisition which was transferred to the state archives in the period of Independence of Ukraine, namely the collection of civil status records, the collection of documents of evacuees, repatriated persons and immigrants, the funds of the Department for Nationalities and Migrations and the Department for Religious Affairs of the Mykolaiv Regional State Administration are given. Many historical documents have been lost forever and with them the names and destinies of people, events connected with the sometimes tragic history of the Poles of Mykolaivshchina, have disappeared into oblivion. Nevertheless, the State Archive of the Mykolayiv region has a sufficient volume of archival sources, which allows to explore various topics of the history of the Polish ethnos on the territory of the Mykolayiv region, as well as to fulfill the requests of citizens. Documents about the Poles of Mykolaiv region are not represented in the archives by compact archival fonds, they are stored in various fonds of pre-Soviet, Soviet periods and the period of Independence of Ukraine, their identification requires thoroughly research work.
