FUNCTIONING OF THE RUSSIAN PERSONAL NAME FORMULA IN THE NOVEL «A HERO OF OUR TIME» BY M. YU. LERMONTOV

Abstract
Texts by Lermontov provide a rich material for the study of personal name standards during the formation of the modern Russian formal language in the 30s of the 19th century. One of the main «text-bonds» in fiction is nomination of literary characters. Their naming goes through all the text and are included the structure of author’s speech, in many dialogues between different characters. The article investigates the functioning of anthroponymic nominations in the prose texts by M. Lermontov, in particular, in the novel «A Hero of Our Time». There is a variability of Russian anthroponymic formula that crops up in different communicative acts and communicative situations and is shown in the article. In the structure of author’s speech in the texts by Lermontov the characters’ most frequent nomination is their surname. Typical of the Russian communicative etiquette, the formula «name + patronymic» is often used in the characters’ dialogues. Women naming is gender-specific. Women are addressed by their first names with or without a determinant, for example, Khniazhna Mary (Princess Mary), Bela. The article also traced the dependence of characters’ nominations on the literary method. The names of characters in the romantic works of Mikhail Lermontov do not vary, but in his realistic texts the names are changed. It reflects an anthroponymic norm and features of the Russian communicative culture.
