Global and local dialect of narrative about inequality

Abstract

Changes in the socio-economic system, subject environment and rhythms of everyday life of societies markedly have accelerated at the turn of the century. Principal variations have occurred in the very mechanism of inequality reproduction. Extended reproduction of stratification in different countries and on different continents is not already questioned in sociological literature and scientific forums. Two main dialects in the narratives of inequality – global and local have been created at the same time. In the first one, the dominant feature is comparative research with the use of verifiably established characteristics or their aggregated indices that claim to be "objectivity." In the second, local narrative, the significance of a particular reality – subjectively perceived inequality is being recognized. The correlation of both narratives is considered in the article. Possible directions for studying the state of inequality in Ukraine are represented.
