Hemodynamic variables and side effects of 0.75% preservative free Ropivacaine for lower abdominal surgeries
Journal Title: Medpulse International Journal of Anesthesiology - Year 2018, Vol 7, Issue 2
Abstract
Bupivacaine has been shown to have selective cardiac effects related to the slow rate at which it dissociates from the sodium channel.4, 13 An important aspects of this toxicity is that it involves a significant degree of stereo specificity, with the ‘S’–isomer showing significantly less cardiotoxic effect. After institutional ethical committee approval and after informed consent of the patients, this study was undertaken on 60 patients of either sex, aged between 20 to 60 years belonging to ASA physical status grade I and II , scheduled for elective lower abdominal surgery. There was 10% decrease in Heart rate from the base line value and the maximum drop in Heart rate occurred at mean time of 26.08 ± 4.22 minutes from the time of injecting study drug in to the epidural space. No patients had bradycardia throughout the procedure. Side effects were very minimal in the present study.

Study of intravenous paracetamol and intravenous tramadol for post operative analgesia in infra umbilical surgery
Background: Relief of postoperative pain is a major concern for patients and anaesthesiologists. Postoperative analgesia has traditionally been provided by opioid analgesics. However, recent trend is to use opioid free a...
The efficacy of 0.75% ropivacaine by epidural neuroaxial blockade for lower abdominal surgeries
The feasibility of injecting a local anaesthetic by the epidural route was first demonstrated by the French Urologist Cathelin in 1901. However, for many years caudal rather than lumber epidural blockade was the preferre...
Comparison of intramuscular atropine and glcopyrrolate in children undergoing various surgical procedures under general anaesthesia
Background: Antiocholinergic premedication in paediatric patients undergoing surgeris under general anaesthesia plays in important role in blocking the potentially dangerous vagal reflexes and in also controlling the oro...
A study of intrathecal bupivacaine with fentanyl and intrathecal bupivacaine with clonidine with respect to sedation and intraoperative and postoperative analgesia in patients undergoing lower abdominal and lower limb surgeries
Background: Spinal anesthesia is a preferred choice of anesthesia in lower abdominal and lower limb surgeries. Various drugs have been used as adjuvants along with bupivacaine for subarachnoid block, but fentanyl and clo...
