Ichtiofauna małych dopływów dolnej Wisły. Część I - między Włocławkiem a Świeciem

Journal Title: Roczniki Naukowe Polskiego Związku Wędkarskiego - Year 2013, Vol 26, Issue

Abstract

This paper describes fish and lampreys abundance and species composition in the small tributaries of the lower Vistula River between the towns of Włocławek and Świecie. The description is based on electrofishing investigations carried out in 2012. Additionally, the major environmental factors influencing the studied fish fauna were then assessed. A total of 4341 individuals belonging to 26 species were recorded at 27 sites. Generally, low fish species abundance prevailed in the investigated streams. Among reproductive groups, the most numerous were psammophils (D = 60%), with gudgeon as the most dominant species (44,2%). With the exception of psammophils (gudgeon and stone loach), the occurrence of other rheophilic species was low. Relative richness of riverine fish fauna was only observed in natural-channel streams in forested valleys or in the stream mouths. In the past, most of the studied streams were exposed to pollution and stream channel regulation. Because of the occurrence of barriers, the fish fauna has little regenerated in many of the investigated streams.
