In Early Historical and Literal Sources Defence of Kanizsa

Abstract
Gazavâtnâme, consisting from Arabic “gaza/gazve” words and Persian “namah”, is generic name which takes matters of the wars the enemies. The Word “gazavat” is plural of “gaza”. This kind of Works detailing the events of a particular period of history in a way that they constitute an important resource for researchers. The tradition of gazavâtnâme in Turkish literature starts in XVIth century and shows great improvements in this century. One of such works is to defend the castle of Kanizsa against the enemy addresing gazavâtnâmes during the Ottoman- Austrian wars from 10 September to 17 November 1601. The epic defence described in the Works has vividly until today an has maintained its popularity. In this article, the conversion of the event into a fictional one in the framework of two literal texts penned in the first half of the XVIIth century is shown by comparison with historical sources.
