INFLUENCE OF SELECTED PARAMETERS FOR FIBER VOLUME TEST CORRECTNESS IN THE COMPOSITE MATERIAL

Abstract

The study presents the influence of selected parameters (heating temperature, thickness of specimens, the amount of sulfuric acid and duration of the process) on the quality of matrix, reinforcement and the void content carbon fiber reinforced composite. This article presents the results of the physicochemical tests. Research has been done with two different composite panels. The first one was made from unidirectional prepreg TC250 / HTS (12k) -150-42% RW and the second one - MTM46 / HTS40 (12k) -150-35% RW. Both of the composite panels matrix were made with the use of thermosetting resin.Properties of the composites were investigated according to ASTM D3171 standards. The samples were tested at: two different temperatures (100 °C and 250 °C), selection of the optimal amount of sulfuric acid, i.e. 30 ml, 40 ml, 50 ml, 60 ml and 70 ml taking into account varying thickness samples. The samples were not of the same weight. The last tested parameter was the duration of the process. Keywords: solids content, polymer composites, physicochemical properties of composite.<br/><br/>
