INJURIES IN FOOTBALL PLAYERS AND THE MEDICAL STAFF WORK METHOD IN SELECTED FOOTBALL TEAMS IN POLAND AND SPAIN

Abstract

Background. Contemporary football puts a very high demands in front of a football player, and challenges almost impossible to meet in front of sports medicine. The aim of the research were the typical football body injuries and the medical staff work method comparison in particular football teams in 1st, 2nd, 3rd league in Poland and in Spain.Material and methods. The research questionnaire contains issues about: injuries, medical teams and physiotherapists work, the sort of physical and rehabilitation endeavours, pharmacotherapy and applied biological regeneration. The questionnaire also contained overall questions. The work concerns the examination of five football teams from Poland and two football teams from Spain. Due to the significant data unsimilarity and data variability there were used different statistical methods for final data analysis.Results. The most vulnerable for minor injuries parts of body are in order: knee joint (33%), and ankle joint (30%). The most frequent injuries are bruises, fractures are most rare. The most frequent physical endeavours in polish teams were: cryotherapy, laserotherapy and magnetotherapy. Spanish teams in their physiotherapy treatment go by such forms as: terapuls, short-wave diathermy, ultrasounds and electrotherapy. There had been observed very well noticeable difference between medical groups work and physiotherapists players care in polish and spanish football teams.Conclusions. Medical treatment and rehabilitation level in polish teams is based on different than in spanish teams standards. Polish football teams from lower leagues have incomparable worse medical backup than spanish.
