Journal Title: International Journal of Contemporary Management - Year 2010, Vol 9, Issue 2

Abstract

Corporate social responsibility (CSR) has become more important regardless of a form and an object of the activity of contemporary enterprises. The specificity of insurance companies demands their responsibility in various dimensions. An insurance agent plays a key role in the realisation of CSR in an insurance company. His/her knowledge and skills are decisive not only in boosting sale, but – what is even more important – he/she is decisive in enhancing loyalty and trust among clients of an insurance company. This article aims to identify relations between the human capital of an insurance company, that is, knowledge and skills of an insurance agent, and the social responsibility concept. The authors depict the core of CSR based on selected aspects of an insurance company’s social responsibility. The paper outlines also a competence profile of an insurance agent.
