Journal Title: In Translation / في الترجمة - Year 2020, Vol 7, Issue 1
Abstract
The act of interpreting is derived from translation itself, besides, various models of translation evaluation do exist, yet do they respond to the requirements of interpretation’s evaluation? This study aims at meeting the needs of evaluating the simultaneous interpretation according to the selection criteria of Paris' school (ESIT) interpretation training. We‘ll try to respond to the interpretative model's principles which were initially applied and adaptable to the process of interpretation. To carry out this research we choose the postulates of the interpretive theory, the analysis of the French President Emmanuel Macron’s speech about COVID 19 and the simultaneous interpretation into Arabic provided by the interpreter of “France 24”. To end up with a satisfying interpretation according to the steps of interpretation conceived by interpretative theory and the postulates of admission to the training of conferences interpretation imposed by the Paris’s school.
