IRREGULAR MIGRATION AS A MODERN POLITICAL TOOL

Abstract
The article exposes the evolution of the notions of illegal and irregular migration and comes up with the shift in the emphasis from illegal migrants as subjects of law violation to them as managers of such acts - smugglers and migrant smuggling as a process. It analyses the influence of these processes on the society and their correlation with a range of other violations of law. The article investigates the way the struggle against illegal and irregular migration is used by various political actors. It defines the matter and perspectives of struggle against the aforementioned types of migration applying different methods – from legalising migrants to building walls. The efficiency of erecting walls and the level of migrant problem solving that can be reached with their use is analysed.
