Abstract
Ilona Florczak JULIAN BARTOSZEWICZ AS A COLLABORATOR OF ‘BIBLIOTEKA WARSZAWSKA’ Julian Bartoszewicz (1821–1870), a historian and teacher for many years was one of the most important journalists ‘Biblioteka Warszawska’, which was the first scientific magazine in nineteenth century Poland. From 1850 to 1865 he published in almost every issue of the magazine. The most important part of his works was series of articles showing condition of Polish historiography since 1830. Bartoszewicz also published many reviews of historical literature, source materials such as memoirs, translation of foreign literature and his own historical articles. He was also a member of editorial office and its Faculty of History. His activity in the pages of ‘Biblioteka Warszawska’ made him one of the authorities in the historical field in the half of nineteenth century in participated Poland.
