Abstract
The main aim of the publication is to find out basic grounds of Kyiv Municipal Academic Opera and Ballet Theater for Children and Youth from its foundation to nowadays. Relevance to this publication is in complex research of functions of this theatre, which is known in Ukraine and abroad. The scientific novelty of the publication consists in deep analyses of historiographical aspect of the problem, its influence on the theatres traditions and complex evaluation of the creative activity. The methodology of the work includes such culturological methods as generally historical, comparatively historical and analytical. Conclusions. Kyiv Municipal Academic Opera and Ballet Theater for Children and Youth is the unique theatre, because of its specialization. In its repertoire presents all theatrical and musical genres. From the moment of foundation to nowadays the team of the theater successfully embodies the best classical traditions of opera and ballet art and combines them with contemporary tendencies. The main goal of the theatre is to create fresh repertoire in order to expand the auditory.
