LA CONTINUITÉ RÉFÉRENTIELLE DANS MÉMOIRES DU CARDINAL DE RETZ : PRONOMS ANAPHORIQUES ET PROCESSUS DE DÉSIGNATION

Abstract

Abstract: In this article we will study the management of the anaphoric pronouns in Memories of the Cardinal of Retz. This study will take account of the role of the various terms of recovery to ensure the referential continuity of the text like its informational structure. Our objective consists in analyzing certain anaphoric relationship while focussing on the nature of the relation between the anaphoric pronoun and its antecedent. We will try to show that this relation is generally difficult to establish since the presence of other competitor referents in the same statement contributes to the emergence of additional interpretative effects. This contribution aims to look further into the study of the identification of the topics within the statement and primarily within the framework of a referential ambiguity when it proves to be impossible to attach the anaphoric pronoun to its antecedent.
