Le Lexique du corps dans San-Antonio : entre argot et néologie
Journal Title: Argotica - Year 2012, Vol 0, Issue 1
Abstract
This article aims to review argotic forms applied to different body parts in the collected works of San Antonio books, first in its various types of use, then in its relation to neology. Throughout the work, especially in its first part, it appears that argot is a major component in the denotation of the body and the writer Frédéric Dard deals easily with this sociolect. The argot vocabulary used in this work offers a various amount of terms. As such, the words referring to private parts don’t remain identical over time, and are more frequently used. Admittedly, sexuality occupies a larger part in san-antonian text. Our analysis that argot helps to lexically innovate. It enters directly into the words construction via suffixal derivation and composition. The lexical participation of argot is soon replaced by a neology, not extracted from argot. Although the study is focused on a single part of the lexicon, it appears ultimately the Dard’s idiolect is constantly evolving. Due to its importance and because it covers the entire second half of the twentieth century, it would imply a systematic large-scale analysis. Our study made an attempt to justify how and why this analysis would provide very relevant results in the understanding of argot and vernacular language.
