Journal Title: Wiek XIX. Rocznik Towarzystwa Literackiego im. Adama Mickiewicza - Year 2014, Vol 0, Issue
Abstract
The Legions, an Unknown Novel of Henryk Sienkiewicz The paper draws attention to the last, unfinished and completely forgotten Henryk Sienkiewicz’s novel The Legions (Legiony) written in the years 1913–1914, which was cast into oblivion due to the PRL (comunist) readership policy. The article outlines sketchily the novel genesis, recalls its reception, announces its contents. Finally, the author attempts to reconstruct the meaning of the ending, which has two versions: the printed and the draft one.
