Legislation Concerning the Educational Process in Canadian Schools

Abstract
The article examines the legal foundations of the educational process in schools in Canada. The author describes various aspects of the functioning of the system of secondary schools and the role of school councils. According to Canadian law, local control over school affairs is maintained in each province or territory. The theoretical and practical features of education in Canada are based on multinational and historical traditions and depend on state policy. In the context of the federal system, competencies are divided between the federal government, provinces and territories. The Canadian Constitution stipulates that the management of education rests with the educational structures of provinces and territories, each with its own legislation on religious schools and schooling, obligatory school attendance, school system and French-language education.
