LINGUAPOETICS OF PROPER NAMES (BASED ON NOVEL BY VOLODYMYR LYS «SOLO FOR SALOME»)

Abstract

The article is devoted to problems of literary onomastics — part of onomastics, characterized by the secondariness, priority of stylistic features of proper names in the artwork, belonging to the field of speech. The use of proper names in literary texts reveals features of writer’s idiostyle. Therefore, the object of our study is fiction by Ukrainian writer Volodymyr Lys and the subject is linguapoetics of proper names in one of the last writer’s novel — «Solo for Salome» («Solo dlia Solomii») Increased need for literary onomastics research devoted to the analysis of onomastics space in modern Ukrainian prose, description of onomastic writing by Volodymyr Lys as one of the features of his idiostyle define the purpose of this article. Considering the above-said we defined research task: to fix onomastic list of novel, to identify groups of proper names and to describe their linguapoetical functions. To scientific analysis it is involved a lot of proper names, grouped by lexical characteristics, it is deduced their stylistic features on quotes material. Conducted linguapoetical analysis of proper names in the novel by Volodymyr Lys «Solo for Salome» led to the following conclusions: numerous anthroponomy (names, nicknames), the names of holidays, deities, mythical creatures, animals actively create artistic world of the text, in particular outline the range of characters, art time and space in novel, describe the traditional Ukrainian knowledge and beliefs, detail the artistic narrative. Proper names of other novels by Volodymyr Lys, profound research of anthroponomy deserve further studies.
