Abstract
This article is about the essence and the task of literary country study as a component of national literary history. The problem is viewed through the prism of correlation of concepts «regional», «national» and «universal» in the poetic works of the little-known talented writers of the 60s Stepan Budnyi and Vasyl Yarmush whose life and literary activity are connected with Ternopil region. Poets' works with similar personal and literary part is analyzed in the aspect of source finding of artistic imagery, its historical and geographical conditionality, the character of searching their national identity and manifestation of civic position.
