Management education in times of economic crisis. A historical perspective

Abstract
The problem of management education in the context of the economic crisis is the subject matter of this paper. The crisis is viewed from the perspective of the theory of social action with particular focus given to such aspects of the crisis as the interpretation of a critical situation in the process of negotiations as well as the disclosed and undisclosed functions of action. Management education should show, therefore, that management competence is founded not only on the knowledge and skills of know-how”, but also on “know why”, in order to enhance a manager’s sense of responsibility for made decisions.
