MANIFESTATIONS OF EUROSCEPTICISM IN THE PUBLIC SPACE OF UKRAINE IN THE PERIOD FROM 1991 TO 2018

Abstract
This article is devoted to the peculiarities of manifestations of Euroscepticism in Ukraine’s public space since gaining independence until the beginning of 2018. Particular attention is paid to the role of political actors in the formation and development of Euroscepticism in Ukraine. It is proved that Euroscepticism in Ukraine erased at the dawn of its independence and is connected with the activities of the Social-National Party of Ukraine and the Communist Party of Ukraine. The two most striking manifestations of Euroscepticism occurred during the «Orange revolution» and the Revolution of Dignity. It is revealed that the inhabitants of Eastern regions of Ukraine are more eurosceptics than representatives of the western regions of the country. Moreover, among the eurosceptics, the elderly, in particular females, prevail. It is concluded that Euroscepticism in Ukraine does not have an exclusive ideological and party affiliation and is often used by politicians as an instrument of political manipulations in order of gaining the electoral support.
