Mapping of Fire Vulnerability As Early Mitigation Effort Againts Fire Hazard In Yogyakarta City

Abstract

Yogyakarta City is a densely populated city and becomes the most popular city within congested activities and high vulnerability of fire danger. Recently, Yogyakarta Cities was noted having a lot of high risk of fire dangerous incidents during year 2017. According to those cases, the Government and people have to take action of fire mitigation to prevent and reduce fire vulnerability. A thing that the government and people have to act is zoning or mapping fire areas that potentially to occur fire incident. Some factors that may cause fire risk for instance building material, building density, accessibility path, fire extinguisher facilities, and fire hydrant. Those principal factors become a background for this research to decrease spatially fire vulnerability in Yogyakarta City during year 2017 as fire mitigation. This research used the quantitative method to zoning or mapping for fire early prevention. The next step is using scoring technique and spatial analysis based on ArcGIS software to overlay some fire variables. The results show that this city which known as Indonesia Keraton Region are divided into 3 zones, those are 53.08% for high-risk zone, 15.65% for medium-risk zone,and 31.26% for low-risk zone.
