Experimental Study Of Glass Shards And Coconut Shell As A Partial Substitution Of Coarse Aggregate Of Concrete
Journal Title: Jurnal Ilmiah Dinamika Rekayasa - Year 2019, Vol 15, Issue 2
Abstract
Coconut shells and glass shards are waste that can be found in the waste shelter. Previous studies have shown coconut shell or glass shards can be used as a partial replacement of aggregates on eco-friendly concrete with varying percentages. In this study, coconut shell and glass fractions were combined as a partial substitution of coarse aggregate aggregate, with 0% (GTK 0), 10% (GTK 1), 20% (GTK 2), 30% (GTK 3), 40% (GTK 4) and 50% (GTK 5) of the coarse aggregate weight. The design compressive strength of concrete is f’c 25 MPa. From the result of the concrete compressive strength test by mixing coconut shell and glass, the highest value of compressive strength (28 days) in GTK 1 is 23.5 MPa. In general, it found that the greater the concentration of coconut shell and glass in the concrete mix, making the compressive strength value decreasing. However, the use of 5% coconut shell and 5% glass shards as a coarse aggregate substitution can be used as structural concrete
