Mass literature in modern socio-cultural situation
Journal Title: Держава та регіони. Серія: Гуманітарні науки - Year 2018, Vol 53, Issue 2
Abstract
The article clarifies the existing ideas about the influence of the social and cultural situation on the functioning of mass literature and on the “narrative formulas” in mass literature texts. Mass liter- ature is actively developing in various genres of modern Ukrainian, Russian, Polish, and other Slavic cultures: woman’s novel, detective, action fiction, fantasy. Mass literature has dramatically changed the structure of “literature space”, confidently occupying the most part of it. Mass literature not only comforts and entertains, but it also reproduces, and transmits the basic values of national cultures, adapting them to mass perception.
