Mechanism of strengthening of embankments on weak bases
Journal Title: Вісник Одеської державної академії будівництва та архітектури - Year 2018, Vol 1, Issue 71
Abstract
The geocell construction provides stability of a high embankment on a weak ground. When erecting a high embankment on weak soils, the geocell mattress is an effective alternative to the pile foundation or the replacement of soil, which reduces the cost and time of the erection. This technology is used in the course of new construction on weak and heterogeneous soils, including overlapping dumps and other waste storage facilities. The geo-cellular mattress forms a rigid platform with a thickness of 1 meter at the base of the embankment, which levels and reduces the amount of settlement, prevents the erosion of the weak foundation soil, increases its bearing capacity, accelerates the rate of soil filling. Thus, excavation and removal of weak soil is not required, cellular geomatress is mounted directly on a natural foundation, is filled with stone material and forms a rigid supporting structure. It has a cellular structure, assembled at the construction site from a rigid triaxially oriented geogrid Tensar TriAx® on the sole and vertical honeycombs of rigid uniaxial geogrid Tensar RE, connected by polymer rods or “bodkin”. The system of geocell mattress increases the overall stability of the embankment, reduces vertical and horizontal stresses in the ground, reduces the amount of settlement and ensures its uniformity.

New method of soil tests with piles by load relaxation method
The stress relaxation method is recommended as one of the rapid soil tests with piles in the State standard of Ukraine. There is a number of contradictions and conditional assumptions in the instruction that prevent its...
Comparative estimation of wear-resistance of steel and rubber coverages of surfaces of constructions of enterprises of mining and metallurgical complex at shock loading
As lining-up materials of surfaces of bunkers, lowering of ore, shifting knots directly contacting with the processed material, wear-proof rubbers are widely used. Further introduction of rubberized coats instead of the...
Differential distribution of disperse masses in turnover cooling systems with vapor coolers
A technique for estimating the differential distribution of dispersed masses in circulating cooling systems with evaporative coolers is developed. The mass of the dispersed phase is formed when the circulating water is s...
Durability of concretes on limestone crushed stone treated with cement slurry
Strength, water resistance and frost resistance of concrete with limestone rubble was investigated. The rubble grade was used for strength 600. Two parallel series of samples were produced. The first series was made by t...
Experimental-statistical modeling of the work of ferro-concrete columns damaged in the operation process
In the course of the experimental and statistical studies, the experiment was planned for the three most significant factors affecting the residual load-bearing capacity of damaged reinforced concrete columns of rectangu...
