Mistagogia przekazania insygniów w świetle Obrzędów święceń biskupa, prezbiterów i diakonów z 1999 roku

Abstract
This article aims to explain the meaning and to present the theology resulting from the rites of conferring the insignia according to The Rites of the Ordination of Bishops, Presbyters and Deacons of 1990. The analysis of the history of the evolution of these ceremonies allowed the author to show that putting on a ring is a sign calling upon the bishop to be faithful to the Church and to care for the purity of its teaching. Giving the pallium aims at revealing the connection of the bishop with the Holy See and encouraging him to be courageous in holding office. The rite and formula used during bestowing the mitre point to the obligation to strive for the union with Jesus, and consequently to develop oneself by practising virtues. Conferring the crosier reveals the pastoral role of bishop’s ministry and the obligation to watch and guide the Church. The method applied in this study is a mystagogic one.
