MODEL OF THE ELEMENTARY PROCESS OF ABRASIVE WEAR

Journal Title: Tribologia - Year 2009, Vol 226, Issue 4

Abstract

The work assumed a geometric model of metal abrasion with a coneshaped grain. This assumption was used to define a method to calculate wear particle geometry and connect them with portions of mechanical energy. Friction work, the hardness of material, the standard load of the friction pair, the linear intensity of wear, the size of the nominal surface of object contact, and the coefficient of the efficiency of wear were all taken into account. Selected examples of calculations of geometric and energy characteristics wear particles for abrasive wear mechanism of metals are given.
