MODERN APPROACHES TO TEACHING MATHEMATICS USING INTERACTIVE INFORMATION TECHNOLOGIES

Abstract

This article describes the algorithm for the system of automated knowledge testing with interactive elements of training for bachelor students AutoTest-EdTIS. The peculiarity of the approach is that the tutor configures the electronic tutor. Tutor monitors the progress of training by students, records the results of mastering the material. The learning process is divided into modules, after each of which an intermediate testing is conducted. Tests can also be carried out during the passage of a separate module to secure the traversed material. The main feature of the system is the use of interactive components for independent study of the material. Architecturally the project is a web application, which means deploying the system on a controlled server and then interacting with it through browsers on devices that communicate with this server over the network. The EdITS system consists of two interconnected modules: the interactive training system IntelTutor and automated knowledge testing with interactive elements AutoTest. The IntelTutor training system is an electronic tutor, which helps the student to get acquainted with the new material (or repeat already studied), to be tested with the planned tips and receive further recommendations. The knowledge check is based on online testing, which has its own peculiarities, in particular, an interactive "hint" mode and the ability to search for information on the catalog of educational and additional literature added by the teacher to the database. The modules examined have a common part: the library catalog Lib-EdITS (it’s a database of educational and methodological and auxiliary literature) and the search line Search-EdITS, into which the query is entered and access to the necessary material from the database is made. The processing of the results was based on mathe-matical algorithms and probabilistic models used by the self-learning neural network techniques for knowledge level assessment. The system is aimed at students experiencing difficulties in the process of studying mathematical disciplines. The present work can be considered as one of the attempts to automate individual elements of the teacher's and student's dialog.
