Modern linguistic interpretation of contrast as a content category of a text

Abstract
The article deals with the problem of contrast and its interpretation by modern linguists. The definitions of contrast in various lexicographic sources have been analyzed. The history of the study of contrast as a content category of a text is considered on the works of domestic and foreign linguists.
