The relevance of the research is stipulated by dramatic changes in today's informational society. The new civiization challenges determined by the development of science, informational technology and the scale of tasks, which education encounters, require a new quality of educational activities, new pedagogical thinking, transition to a new innovative system of education, that is a new methodology of education. In the article on the basis of the analysis of the changes which occurr in society there is represented the conclu-sion specifying the need for new teaching methodology of professional education. The aim of the article is to define basic functions and specificity of implementation of methodological approaches into the organization of teaching / learning activities at a pedagogical institution of higher education. It is proved that every teacher must know the methodology of modern teaching, and then, on this basis, develop their own technologies and techniques. It is shown that the methodological basis of educational institutions should be symbiosis of different methodo-logical approaches in the organization of the educational process. The main methodological approaches which require their complete implementation into the educational process of pedagogical institutions are determined as follows: systemic, synergistic, personality-oriented, activity-oriented, axiological, cultural and competence-oriented. It was determined that each of these approaches is extremely valuable and efficient in solving educational problems. The necessity of integration of methodological approaches for the organization of such a complex educational process, the educational process is at pedagogical institutions, was proved. It was concluded that to train teachers in methodological thinking at a pedagogical institution is not possible without appropriate training of teaching staff, who are ready to move away from traditional pedagogy, to compre-hend the current methodology of educational activities as well as to successfully implement it into a holistic educational process of pedagogical institutions. Training teachers in methodology at pedagogical institutions is defined the main problem which needs further solution. This requires a new way to build further development of professional teacher education: defining priority goals, personality oriented education, individual student trajectories of their professional competence formation, building innovative strategies, development of systemic thinking. Elaboration of theoretical and methodological foundations of training teachers in methodology at pedagogical institutions is predetermined by the next stage of our research.
