Mykola Pantusov (1849-1909)

Abstract

The article tells about the life and work of a talented scientist orientalist Mykola Pantusov. Particular attention is allot to his research work in Central Asia – Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, etc. Exploration of these vast territories M. Pantusov allot 36 years. He created a large collection of rare things of archaeology, ethnography, geology, etc. By him to created a series of works on the history of Central Asia. The big collection antiquities of M. Pantusov formed the basis of Semirechensk Regional Museum, founded by M. Pantusov in 1898. The authors noted a significant charitable work of the scientist. He not only was a member of several societies, but also took an active part in their activities, supporting them financially. The researchers said that has not been published to date most of the work of the scientist, but the first work about M. Pantusov («Nikolai Pantusov», Mykolayiv, 2016) has been prepared and published in 2016.
