Innovation in an enterprise – attempt of define

Abstract
The aim of this article is to precise the definition of the innovation in an enterprise in a way to express, at the same time, theoretical assumptions and examining of economists in this area and understanding the clue of the innova-tion by representatives of the business. It was taken that the most precise defini-tion is to create the innovation as the final stage of creating a new financial real-ity, first applying new ideas in practice. This thesis is based on a review of the literature on the subject, and in order to verify it the research on the group of listeners of the first year of Master of Bussiness Administration of Gdańsk School of Banking was conducted. After distinguishing and analysis of definitions of the innovation, the innovation of the enterprise and the entrepreneurship (the first part of the article) classifications and determinants of the innovation were described (the second part). The analysis how innovations are understood by representatives of the business , is shown in the last, third part of the article. Examined assessed 16 diversified definitions of innovation pointing (with scales) a degree of their compliance with their own receipt of this notion and choosing two definitions which best give the meaning of this phenomenon.
