Classification of food industry sectors according to their financial situation

Abstract
The main target of the study was to classify trades of food industry sector in Poland in 2010, basing on their financial condition, using a synthetic meter con-structed with TOPSIS method. The research showed that the best financial situation characterized below listed industries: manufacturing of bread; manufacturing of fresh pastry goods and cakes and manufacturing of prepared pet foods. The lowest values of the synthetic meter, as well as the weakest financial condition, appeared in following sectors: manufacturing of starches and starch products and other processing and preserving of fruit and vegetables.
