PRESIDENTIAL GOVERNMENT DEBATES IN TURKISH MEDIA: THE RESEARCH FOCUSING ON THE COLUMNISTS

Abstract

 Is the parliamentary system that Turkey has been implementing for 95 years being left behind? Will Turkey make a decision in favor of parliamentary system in terms of government model, or will it switch to a semi-presidential or a Turkish-type presidential system? This issue is the issue that has been mostly discussed since 2014. This study is for understanding the perspective of Turkish media towards the potential system change in Turkey. In this study that is carried out over Turkish media, the columnists of Hürriyet, Star, Cumhuriyet, Yeniçağ, Özgür Gündem and Agos newspapers, each of which has different worldview and ideological perspective were involved in the scope. In this study, where all of the issues of all of these newspapers during a month have been examined, the content analysis was adopted as the research method.
