The evolution of codes of good practice for institutional investors in Great Britain
Journal Title: Zarządzanie i Finanse - Year 2013, Vol 11, Issue 2
Abstract
This paper presents the evolution of codes of good practice for institutional investors in the UK. Recommendations for institutions were already contained in the Cadbury Report but it was the 2007 economic crisis that led to a deeper analysis of the role of institutional investors in the economy. As a result, the Code on the Responsibilities of Institutional Investors were developed and were later followed by the UK Stewardship Code. The paper contains an analysis of these documents. The paper quotes also the research on the compliance of institutions with the codes of good practice and the plans of investors to participate in the process of further evolution and development of the codes.
