The procedure and scope of implementation of the Jessica Initiative in Poland

Abstract
The article presents basic information on the concept underlying the Jessica Initiative as a financial engineering mechanism that the European Commission proposes to use for financing urban development projects. It provides a list of EU and national laws applying to the Initiative, shows two major models for implementing the Initiative and discusses the main elements of the implementation procedure. In Poland, five voivodeships have declared their intention to use Jessica as a means of financing urban investment projects. The article also provides a list of projects that have been approved for financing by the Jessica Initiative.
