NEW DATA ON PETROGRAPHY OF THE ROTLIEGEND ROCKS IN THE WESTERN PART OF THE FORE-SUDETIC MONOCLINE
Journal Title: Biuletyn Państwowego Instytutu Geologicznego - Year 2011, Vol 444, Issue 444
Abstract
The paper presents the results of studies of Rotliegend rocks from four boreholes located in the western part of the Fore-Sudetic Monocline. Standard petrographic (microscopic and planimetric) analysis accompanied by cathodoluminescence, SEM and XRD studies has been applied. The rocks are represented by conglomerates (mostly fine-grained and polymictic), sublithic, lithic and subarkosic quartz sandstones, mudstones and claystones. Their colours are variable and range from red-brown to light-grey-greenish. It is due to Eh and pH changes within the sediments during diagenetic alterations.

The assessment of groundwater recharge by infiltration method in selected catchments
The paper describes the assessment of groundwater recharge on the basis of precipitation infiltration. Investigations were carried out on two selected catchments located in southern Poland: Rudawa and Stradomka. Groundwa...
Modelling as a tool for evaluation of the influence of groundwater intakes on surface flows – example from the Koprzywnianka river catchment area
In the area of the Koprzywnianka river catchment and its close vicinity several groundwater intakes are in operation. They exploit variable hydrogeological structures. This exploitation affect the water volume in surface...
Modelling of water flow in double-porosity media
Natural soils and rocks often contain two porous systems having different physical properties. The double-porosity structure is related either to the development of a network of secondary porosity (fractures, fissures or...
CLAY MINERALS IN THE CARBONIFEROUS SANDSTONES OF THE SOUTHEASTERN PART OF THE LUBLIN BASIN AS PALEOTEMPERATURE INDICATORS OF DIAGENESIS
Clay minerals are the main components of the Carboniferous sandstones cement in the Lublin Basin. The allogenic minerals included in the matrix and authigenic minerals forming cements were distinguished among clay minera...
GEOSTATISTICS AS A TOOL SUPPORTING RESEARCH ON MINERAL DEPOSITS OF POLAND – MAIN DIRECTIONS OF APPLICATIONS
The history of development of geostatistical methods in the world and their applications in Poland are shortly presented. Main directions of the use of geostatistics in the evaluation of mineral deposits of Poland are di...
