Niedokończony dramat Friedricha Schillera o Dymitrze Samozwańcu. Niemiecka wersja polsko-rosyjskiej historii
Journal Title: Wiek XIX. Rocznik Towarzystwa Literackiego im. Adama Mickiewicza - Year 2015, Vol 0, Issue
Abstract
Demetrius, the last, unfinished Friedrich Schiller’s drama, is based around the events of the Russian Time of Troubles. The only one fully completed act takes place entirely in Poland. Schiller conducted a thorough historical research during which he acquainted himself with various versions of the story, which were obscured by the layers of legend, and developed his own version of the events which could be reconstructed from the source materials. In his unfinished work, Schiller attempted to translate the improbable and culturally distant historical narrative into the language of Romantic drama. This work, together with the context of preliminary notes, history, and legend, make up an interesting and generally unknown multi-threaded piece, the complicated structure of which is analysed from hypertextual perspective.
