Journal Title: Актуальні питання гуманітарних наук: Міжвузівський збірник наукових праць молодих вчених Дрогобицького державного педагогічного університету - Year 2018, Vol 21, Issue 1
Abstract
The article briefly describes the history of the establishment and development of the hospitality institute, it is noted that the question of the establishment of a hotel business in Uzhgorod was practically not studied, which determines the relevance of this work. The functioning of such well-known hospitality facilities of Uzhgorod during the period of the Transcarpathian region as Austro-Hungary and Czechoslovakia, as “Bercheny”, “Korona”, “Carpathia”, “Chorniy Orel”, etc. is investigated. It is noted that one of the most ancient in the city of Uzhgorod is the hotel Pannonia, rebuilt in the second half of the XIX cen- tury. from the former brewery called “Pivniy Dim”. From a typical economic building, the brewery turned into a noble house with a front facade, decorated in the style of eclecticism (historicism). It is noteworthy that at that time, all rooms at Pannonia Hotel were fully furnished, with plumbing. The hotel has a restaurant, a glass hall, a beautiful garden, a stage for performances, etc. It is noted that the sophisticated hotels and restaurants “Bercheny” and “Korona” were the most prestigious places for rest of the Uzhgorod elite in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. Instead, the Carpathia Hotel was popular for travelers of average prosperity, besides, it was located in a convenient shopping district of the city. The path of their transformation, ups and downs is traced. It is noted that the fate of the old hotels has developed in different ways: some buildings have survived, changing their appearance, and some, unfortunately, were destroyed under the pressure of time, and sometimes also of human indifference. It was emphasized that it is very important to preserve the remains of the descendants and to continue the tendencies of restoring the color of the ancient times in the hospitality establishments, which for some time return us to the glorious past of the ancient city. In particular, there is the Hotel “Mala Shtatsiya”, which is plunged into the atmosphere of the Austro-Hungarian period. The building of the hotel is imbued with the spirit of antiquity and mysteriousness. According to the author of the project, the main task was to keep this spirit as much as possible, to create an appropriate interior, with all modern hygiene standards. The rooms of “Mala Shtatsiya” are equipped with antique furniture furniture of prehistoric Uzhgorod. There are also ancient cellars, where you can arrange a romantic candlelight dinner and wine. In the future plans of the owner – to create a tasting room. The desire to remember the old customs, recipes of the old cuisine, and to reproduce the color of the past epoch led the enthusiasts to open the hospitable court “Charda” in the suburbs of Uzhhorod. The article emphasizes that such institutions, where the past and present crosses, satisfies the aesthetic tastes of the guests, brings a certain color, makes it possible not to forget our own history.
