Abstract

The article reveals peculiarities of the aesthetic personality in the philosophy of Søren Kierkegaard based of his works "The Diary of the Seducer" and "The Aesthetic Validity of the Marriage". It has been revealed, that an aesthete has the following features: a tendency to perceive love and art as a whole, denial of historicity, desire for mystery in love relationships and perception of love only as a process of constant struggle. Along with this, there has been analyzed the way these features become close to the characters of the works by Valeryan Pidmogylny. For Martа Vysotska, from the novel "A Little Drama", a rejection of historicity in love and identification of literature and love is inherent. Stepan Radchenko, from the novel «The City», also rejects the possibility of long-term relationships, and at the same time, he is characterized with the perception of love as a process of a constant conquest. The article also reveals the natures of the characters created by Valerian Pidmohylny and claiming for a role of ethical personalities. These are Dmytro Stainnychy and Yurii Slavenko, each of them eager to create a family and ready to take responsibility, however, they were able neither to feel love nor build it on, and therefore they cannot be regarded as real ethical characters. Thus, through a comparative analysis, the commonality of the aesthetic heroes of Søren Kierkegaard and Valerian Pidmihylny was discovered, but it is also noted, that the aesthetic heroine Marta Vysotska differs from the other aesthetes, discussed above, as she does not perceive a beloved Man as an object to be conquered or seduced. The similarity of the heroes of Valerian Pidmohylny to the heroes of Søren Kierkegaard tends to testify the presence of existential motives in the works of the Ukrainian writer and, accordingly, the proximity of his views to the ideas of the philosophy of existence.
