Obtaining somatic embryos and establishing embryogenic cell suspensions in the banana cultivar 'Navolean' (AAB)
Journal Title: Biotecnología Vegetal - Year 2002, Vol 2, Issue 2
Abstract
Cells suspension of plantains and bananas with promising results have been reported internationally, however, in Cuba it is not at so for AAB group. So, the following working objectives have to be considered: in vitro multiplication of the material used as explant source. For in vitro multiplication of the material used as explant source. For in vitro multiplication of the material, several 6-BAP and IAA concentration were studied. Induction of embryogenic cultures was the developed form scalps incubated in solid medium ZZ. Suspensions were established in 10 ml and 25 ml Erlenmeyers containing liquid medium ZZ. The best medium for explant multiplication was MS (salts and vitamins), additional thiamin (1 mg.l-1), sucrose (40 g.l-1); 4.50 mg.l-1 6-BAP, 0.88mg.l-1 IAA and solidified agar (6.0 g.l-1) (medium 7). A 4.66% callus formation with embryogenic cultures was obtained, and cell suspensions were established 20 days after incubation in 10 ml Erlenmeyers. Media were changed every third day.

Use of stem sections from in vitro papaya plants (hybrid IBP 42-99) to obtain callus with embryogenic structures
Inside in vitro propagation via, the somatic embriogenesis offers possibilities of obtaining top volumes of production in a minor period of time and a lower cost, which are a method potentially more efficient than the re...
Maltose in culture media improves the in vitro regeneration of Urochloa brizantha cv. ‘Marandu’ plants
The improvement of the in vitro regeneration of Urochloa brizantha is an important step to toward the development of transgenic cultivars. The objective of this work was to test the effect of the amino acid proline and...
In vitro establishment of the hybrid rootstock ‘Garfi x Nemared’ (Garnem) for peach
The interspecific hybrid between almond and peach, ‘Garfield x Nemared’ (Prunus dulcis (Mill) D.A.Webb x Prunus persica (L.) Batsch.) has become very important as rootstocks for peach in Bolivia, but propagation by tra...
Histological characterization of sugarcane shoots in vitro rooting in liquid culture medium
In the sugarcane (Saccharum spp.) propagation in temporary immersion there are individual shoots or groups of shoots that require their in vitro rooting before being transferred to natural conditions. The objective of t...
Effect of CO 2 on Coffea arabica L. cv. ‘Caturra rojo’ and Clematis tangutica K. somatic embryos development
Studies to optimize somatic embryogenesis have traditionally focused on the components of the culture medium but little other in vitro environment factors have been analyzed such as the composition of the gaseous atmos...
