Origins of emergence and evolution trend of Polo in Iran

Abstract
The origins of emergence and evolution of the sport of polo in three periods of ancient Persia, old Iran and contemporary Iran. The study is historical (descriptive - analytical). The main tool for collecting data are primary sources of information (documents, works, buildings) and secondary sources (reports), which are analyzed after collecting and classifying them. With reference to the historical and literary texts and works of art and historic buildings and the remains of different periods, the status polo in Iran can be found. Polo was played to promote warrior in ancient Persia, and then with maintaining its main warfare role, became a competitive sport, and reaches its peak at the time of the Sassanid. In ancient Persia, polo, affected by culture and authority of the reigns, experienced ups and downs, and reached its peak during the Safavid period and in the contemporary Iran, by reduced role of horses in combat and everyday life, contexts for extension of polo are limited. Polo Federation Established 2002, and then policy making for reviving this sport as a national and historical asset is carried out for the dynamism and independence of polo.
