Abstract
The study results of the features of computer modeling and aberrations analysis of afocal systems in comparison with other systems, where the image is located at a finite distance from the optical system are presented, in order to establish a classification approach to the selection of various image quality evaluation methods. The aberration characteristics inherent to afocal systems have been highlighted when they are used as a visual instrument. The criteria for the functionality of application software packages for the aberrations analysis in afocal systems are established. Original methods for estimating image quality in computer modeling are proposed, depending on the type and version of the available software packages for designing optics. It was found that in the software opal and the new versions of the Zemax and Code V is convenient to estimate the results in an angular measure for afocal systems. It was found that those software environments where there is no possibility of establishing the afocality of the optical system, proposed to apply an additional focusing system, to analyze the results of calculation in a linear measure, or to resort to the application of certain criteria, such as the shape of the spot diagram, wave front analysis. It was established, that if required to review the complete behavior of the afocal system, is necessary the correction of the design parameters of the individual optical elements entering the OS, for this purpose, a method of calculating the aberrations of the individual components should be performed. In cases where the aberrations of the optical system are small, it is more convenient to carry out a descriptive analysis of the wave aberrations. The use of the proposed methods was verified by the example of computer simulation of an afocal three-mirror system, calculated for the following optical characteristics: angular field of view 2ω = 1o, entrance pupil diameter D = 500mm and magnificationГ = -4x, which has a stable correction of field aberrations: It was established, that the results of the computerized modeling are in accordance with the methods used, and the methods are consistent with each other
