Parents’ Attitude Towards Cooperation Among Participants in Education in Enhancement of Students’ Motivation for Engagement into Informal Musical Activities
Journal Title: Jaunųjų mokslininkų darbai - Year 2012, Vol 37, Issue 4
Abstract
The obtained results reveal that parents consider the cooperation among participants in the process of informal education being more sincere, closer, and more tailored for each individual child, success of his musical activity, and his wellbeing compared to the cooperation in formal education. Therefore teachers providing informal education have greater possibilities to get students’ parents involved in the process of cooperation compared to those providing formal education. Successful cooperation among educators enhances children sense of being safe and hence induces children to express themselves more freely. Parents consider teacher’s professional skills and favourable family members’ attitude to the child’s informal musical activity being the most important motivating factors. Level of education and musical experience of the respondents were those demographic factors that had the greatest impact on distribution of the respondents’ opinions. The research results suggest that teachers providing informal musical education could make cooperation with parents of students smoother by providing it while doing activities that parents enjoy most, for example, organising concerts or trips involving all. This would lead to improvements in cooperation in more complicated situations that sometimes occur in the process of education as well
