Peasants in the Ukrainian and Belorussian nation forming processes (second part of the 19-th – the beginning of the 20-th century)

Abstract
The historical willingness of the Ukrainian and Belorussian Naddnieper’s peasants to their involvement into the modern nation formation in the second part of the 19-th – the beginning of the 20-th century is analyzed. The peculiarities of the traditional Ukrainian and Belorussian peasants’ integration are traced. Ukrainian and Belorussian intelligence’s progressive part in the national apperception and strengthening of the mother tongue is also admitted. The peasants gave preference to the social relations which, on the one hand, acted like brakes of modernization, on the other hand, gave an opportunity to save the etnocultural identity that created the basis for the optional formation of modern Ukrainian and Belorussian nations
