PECULIARITIES OF FOREIGHN LANGUAGE STUDY COMMUNICATIVE METHOD IN TECHNICAL HIGHEREDUCATIONAL ESTABLISHMENTS

Abstract

The article analyses the peculiarities of the communicative method use, considers the peculiarities of the interactive methods application at the lessons of the English language in the higher educational establishments of technical orientation. The examples are given and the ways of their implementation are analyzed. The main principles, able to mobilize the training process, are considered. The study ways and forms, affecting the formation and development of the studentsʼ communicative skills and habits, are investigated. The arguments are given about the communication method, which can also be integrated with conventional traditional elements of a foreign/English language teaching/. Such a methodology stipulates the studentʼs maximal immersion into the language study process – leading the use of the Ukrainian language at the lessons to its minimum. The aim of such a methodology is to teach the student first to speak English fluently and then to think English. It is not less important that the mechanical reproductive exercises are also absent. They are substituted by game situations, work with partners. Such assignments are directed to detection of errors, their analysis. This promotes the stimulation of memory, develops logical, analytical and creative thinking. The peculiarities of communicative method of studying a foreign language in technical higher education establishments are drafted. It is emphasized that this method is effective on condition of the teacherʼs high professional training, of his ability to organize the process, to adapt the students/cadets on condition of appropriate logistic support. It is underlined that the process of a foreign/English language study envisages communication, because it makes it possible to transfer from considering English as an object of study to its practical use. It is stressed that the new non-traditional methods of a foreign language study stimulate students/cadets to manifest their language activity and this comprises their attractiveness and ultimate significance. Communicative methodology of a foreign language study promotes speeding-up the process of talking a foreign language and then of thinking it. This methodology is convenient for conducting the lessons and more than that, that is, it can be used both for work in class-room and for out of school activities. The conclusion has been made that the nowadays communicative methodology is one of the most effective ways of studying foreign languages.
