PECULIARITIES OF HOMONYM RELATIONS BETWEEN ANGLO-AMERICAN AND GERMAN ECONOMIC TERMS

Abstract
The article focuses on a complex analysis of the influence of Anglo-American terms on semantic, in particular, homonym, processes in the German economic lexis. Analyzing, systematizing and generalizing the scientific works of many scholars, the peculiarities of homonymic relations between Anglo-American and German economic terms have been considered. The definition of the homonymy in modern linguistics, principles of polysemy and homonymy phenomena differentiation have been determined. As a result of the study, the reasons for appearing homonym-terms in the German economic lexis, including convergence, divergence, metaphor and metonymy, and borrowing, have been revealed. The homonymy of the Anglo-American and German economic terms has been analyzed and the changes in the semantic structure of Anglo-American terms in economic lexis of German have been established. Among the Anglo-American lexical units in economic lexis of German there are three types of homonyms by origin, which, by their sound composition, are identical to those already available in German, which originate from one language and which come from different languages. It is revealed that homonymic lexical units can have literary and regional, neutral and stylistically colored, literary and archaic character. It is established that the result of the process of borrowing Anglo-Americanism in economic lexis of German is not only the development of the vocabulary, but also changes in the structure of the vocabulary. It also contributes to the variability of lexical units in the German economic terminology, which leads to the formation of homonymic relations. Prospects for further research are the study of Anglo-American terms in economic lexis of German in a comparative aspect.
