PECULIARITIES OF POLITICAL DISCOURSE AS THE MANIPULATIVE TYPE OF COMMUNICATION

Abstract
The article deals with the concept of political discourse as a linguistic register of speech. Types, functions, linguistic peculiarities of the political discourse have been analyzed. A characteristic feature of political discourse is the use of polit- ical clichés and syntactic linguistic units, in order to enhance the effectiveness of speech and the manipulative ability of speech communication. In addition, it has been determined that the selection of language means depends on the genre, the objective of the political discourse, as well as the intentions of the speaker, speech interaction situation and character- istics of the message recipient.
